NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil men's basketball welcomed No. 6 Monroe Community College and Delaware County as a part of the Cecil College Holiday Classic. The Seahawks fell to the Tribunes on Friday night, then defeated the Phantoms on Saturday afternoon.
Cecil enters the holiday break with an 8-6 overall record.
Monroe CC 70, Cecil 57
The Seahawks fought back from several deficits, but ultimately dropped the contest to the ranked Tribunes in the opener of the classic.
Cecil sank just one three on eight attempts, both season lows. The Seahawks 57 points is their worst offensive output since Nov. 11, 2023, when Monroe held Cecil to 56.
Marcus Edmond Jr. finished with 20 points. Jeremiah Falko collected eight points and five assists. Joshua Louis chipped in 13 points and eight rebounds. Carlito McBryde led all players with 10 rebounds.
Cecil 83, Delaware County 68
The Seahawks bounced back and ended the classic on a high note, dropping Delaware County by 15 points.
Cecil dominated the boards, outrebounding the Phantoms 48-28. The shorthanded Phantoms recieved zero points from their bench, while the Seahawks had 49 points come from their reserves. Cecil matched their season high with 34 shots made.
The Seahawks featured 12 players, with all of them scoring at least two points. Edmond Jr. once again topped the team with 19 points and seven rebounds. Tyrrell Wise Jr. dropped a career high 14 points and Xavier Richards-Powell ended with 12. Joshua Akapo led the Sehawks with five assists while also turning in seven points.
