John, Palafox Selected to All-Region 20 Team

NORTH EAST, Md. - Cecil forward Akeil John and midfielder Dariel Palafox have been named to the 2022 All-Region 20 Division II Men's Soccer team, as announced by Region 20 officials on Tuesday morning.

John earned a spot on the All-Region 20 Second Team while Palafox was an honorable mention. Players were nominated and voted on by Region 20 coaches.

As a freshman, John led Cecil with nine goals and 22 shots on goal. He had three games with at least two goals, including a brace against NJCAA DI Montgomery back on Sept. 27. John also scored twice against Region 20 foes Prince George's and Chesapeake College. His goal against Manor College was the deciding factor in a 2-1 victory over the Blue Jays, a USCAA opponent.

Palafox led the Seahawks midfield and ended the season with one goal and four assists. In the afformentioned Manor contest, it was his free kick goal that gave Cecil an early lead. Two of his assists came in a 4-0 win against Chesapeake on Oct. 6.
