NORTH EAST - Cecil College men's soccer picked up a crucial win over Carroll on Tuesday, downing the Lynx 9-4 at home.
The Seahawks nine goals are the most in the program's modern era (2014-present), breaking the seven-goal mark set by the 2023-24 squad. The win moves Cecil into fifth place in the Region 20 Division 2 standings, with a match against sixth-place Anne Arundel set for Thursday.
On offense, Cecil was led by three goals and three assists from Izak Battle Jr. Ronaldo King extended his points streak with two goals. Jannis Braun led the team with 11 shots and match Battle Jr with six shots on goal each.
Carroll stunned Cecil with a goal at 1:19 in the opening half. The Seahawks responded with three goals, including two from Battle Jr. and one from King. The Lynx struck for their second goal midway through the first after being awarded a penalty kick. Both offenses quieted down over the next 20 minutes, but Samuel Reeves struck for a goal before the half to extended Cecil's lead.
The Seahawks dominated large chunks of the second half, scoring five goals on 20 shots. Carroll scored two goals late, but it was not enough to overcome Cecil's offensive barrage.
Cecil's sixth victory matches the program's record for wins dating back to the early 2000s.
