Game 2
Chesapeake College
NORTH EAST - A new position was no problem for Cecil's Sloane Tanner, as the freshman led the Seahawks to a 12-4 win over Region 20 Division 2 opponent Chesapeake to close out Wednesday evening.
The Hedgesville, West Virginia native finished 4-for-4 with two triples and two doubles at the plate. Normally an infielder, Tanner also took the field as a catcher for the first time this season.
A close game through two innings, Gianna Dougherty (10-4) would shut down Chesapeake's bats over the final four frames. The freshman right-hander allowed just one hit while striking out nine Skipjacks to grab the win. Cecil's offense plated seven unanswered runs during this stretch.
The Seahawks are now 15-11 (6-8 R20) with Wednesday's sweep
