NORTH EAST - Cecil College baseball hit the road for a four-game trip to western Pennsylvania, taking two contests from Region 20 foes Allegheny County (CCAC) and Westmoreland County.
The Seahawks are now 24-19 on the season.
Game One - Cecil 14, CCAC 8
Sophomore first baseman Justin Weaver mashed a pair of home runs in Cecil's victory to start Thursday's doubleheader.
Cecil and CCAC scored 14 of the game's 22 runs in the second inning. The Seahawks dropped eight at the top of the frame to take the lead and held onto it for the rest of the contest. The Seahawks collected five additional runs in the sixth to put the opener away.
Weaver finished with a team high five RBI, while Asher Friedman led all players with three hits. Derek Santiago (1-0) took the win after three solid innings of relief work.
Game Two - Cecil 6, CCAC 4
The Seahawks scored six runs in the seventh inning, stunning CCAC with a comeback win to close out the afternoon.
CCAC managed to scored four runs off of just one hit and one walk for the entire game. Defensive and pitching miscues left Cecil trailing 3-0 heading into the finale frame.
The hosts would walk the first three batters of the inning, with a fielders choice and a strikeout leaving the Seahawks trailing 3-1 with one out to spare. Franco Riposo extended the inning with a single, then Andrew Baldini handed Cecil the lead with a two-RBI double. Two batters later and Couper Stala tripled to bring in two more, making it 6-3 in favor of the Seahawks.
Trent Wolf would close out the seventh for his third save of the year. Ty Whittaker (2-2) took the win after striking out seven.
Game Three - Cecil 21, Westmoreland 7
Cecil took a messy, high scoring contest in Friday's opener against the Wolfpack.
The two teams combined for 11 errors, seven of which were committed by Westmoreland. The Seahawks slammed its host for 21 runs on 11 hits and 14 walks. Tyler Burger and Chris Woods both tripled, while Justin Weaver slugged his third homer in two days.
Ben Campbell (3-0) calmed Westmoreland's bats down in the late innings, holding the Wolfpack without a hit over the final 2 2/3 innings.
Game Four - Cecil 19, Westmoreland 10
The Seahawks navigated another slugfest in the closing contest, taking down Westmoreland to finish 4-0 for the weekend.
32 hits were recorded between Cecil and the Wolfpack. The Seahawks led off the game with sophomore reliever Chad Francis homering to dead center in his first collegiate at-bat. Five additional Seahawks finished with one extra-base hit.
After a chaotic first four frames, Cecil's pitching once again locked down the game late. Hunter Sipel (3-2) and Jonathan Mason (Sv, 1) surrendered just three runs (two earned) over the final three innings. Cecil offense continued to hit, scoring four runs in the fifth and again in the seventh to seal the deal.
