BEL AIR - Cecil College baseball fell in heartbreaking fashion to the Harford Fighting Owls on Monday evening.
Both teams would score two runs over the first three innings, with Cecil's coming from a two-run blast off the bat of Tyler Burger in the second. Harford then grabbed a 3-2 lead in the fourth on an RBI-double.
After two straight scoreless frames, the Seahawks took the lead in the seventh on a sacrifice fly and a Harford throwing error. Cecil held on until the bottom of the eighth, when a Fighting Owls double plated two to give them a 5-4 advantage.
The Seahawks tied the game once more in the ninth after Franco Riposo's base knock drove home Hunter Sipel. Sipel was then tasked to keep the game going from the mound in the bottom of the frame. The sophomore battled, but eventually was done in by a bases loaded throwing error that scored the winning run for Harford.
Cecil drops to 24-20 on the year after the loss.
