LARGO, Md. - Cecil baseball stayed undefeated in 2026, defeating Delaware Tech in a doubleheader held at Prince George's on Saturday due to ongoing weather conditions.
The Seahawks improve to 4-0 on the season.
Game One - Cecil 7, Delaware Tech 4
The Seahawks did all of their damage across two innings, then held off Delaware Tech to seal the opener.
Cecil's one through six in the lineup combined for all 11 hits. Matt Jackson led off and topped all batters with three hits. Sophomore outfielder Chris Woods drove home three runs on a pair of triples. Sophomore backstop Braydon Janzer hit third and grabbed two doubles as well as two RBI.
The Seahawks rotation did enough to get the job done. Kyle Hyre (1-0) earned his first collegiate win after pitching the middle innings. Mike Preske picked up his first save of the season. Starter Pat Callahan struck out three over as many innings.
Game Two - Cecil 13, Delaware Tech 12
Cecil's fourth inning rally extended the Seahawks' winning streak, scoring 10 runs in the frame and later holding off Delaware Tech to earn the victory.
The Seahawks would load the bases before a strikeout put Cecil in danger of leaving them stranded. However, a clutch double from Ryan James cleared them in the following at-bat. Control issues haunted Delaware Tech from there, as the Seahawks would reach base via free pass four of its next five trips to the dish. Cody Kunca cleared them once again, launching a grand slam to put the Seahawks ahead before the side was retired.
Delaware Tech tied the game with four runs in the seventh, but a walkoff error in the bottom of the inning gave Cecil the win.
Kunca led the Seahawks with three hits and four RBI. Mason Richter grabbed two hits. Mason Burlingame (2-0) took the win out of the bullpen.
