NORTH EAST - Cecil College men's soccer picked up a crucial Region 20 Division 2 victory on Thursday, defeating the Allegany Trojans 5-4.
The Seahawks got off to a scorching start after Bent Althoff connected with Ronaldo King for two goals inside the first 10 minutes of the contest. Allegany flipped the script by scoring four times before the end of the first half.
Anthony Thompson's goal 59 seconds into the second half cut the deficit down to one. The two teams traded blows over the next 20 minutes until Althoff scored a goal of his own in the 67th to tie the game.
The Seahawks continued to pound the net looking for a game winner. It was King who eventually provided the game winner in the 80th, sending home a shot just outside the box to put Cecil ahead.
The Trojans had a few chances late to tie the game, but Finnegan Tome and Cecil's defense held on to take their fifth win of the year.
